Eco-Savvy Business Practices

As of 1 February 2023, Victoria took a bold step by implementing a band on single-use plastics across the state. This crucial decision means Victorians are no longer able to sell or supply single-use plastic drinking straws, plates, cutlery, drink stirrers, cotton bud sticks, or expanded polystyrene food service items and drink containers from any organisation or business.

This ban is just the beginning. There are numerous ways in which businesses can embrace eco-savvy practices, making a positive impact on the environment.

One effective strategy is to provide water dispensers instead of bottled water. By doing so, businesses can significantly reduce the production and disposal of plastic bottles, contributing to a cleaner and healthier planet.

Similarly, opting for refillable ink cartridges rather than disposable ones, not only minimises plastic waste, but it also showcases a commitment to sustainable practices.

The digital age has granted incredible opportunities to reduce  reliance on paper. By digitising documents and utilising reusable dry-erase boards, businesses can significantly cut down on paper consumption, conserving valuable resources and decreasing waste generation.

Additionally, companies can actively encourage their employees to carpool or utilise public transportation, thereby reducing transportation emissions and fostering a greener commute.

It is also essential for businesses to consider to source their products locally and support sustainable enterprises. By doing so, they not only reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation, but also contribute to the growth of the local economy and the vitality of the community.

By implementing these simple yet powerful changes, businesses can play a significant role in promoting sustainability, reducing its ecological footprint, and even save costs.

Embracing eco-savvy practices not only aligns with the values of conscious consumers, but also sets an example for other businesses to follow. Together, we can create a cleaner, greener future for generations to come, Ensuring Tomorrow.
